You have been warned: This book is cursed.

ABCs of Horror is a collection of ghastly tales that binds different forms of terrors together in a riveting narrative, which feels as real as the entity sitting right behind you when you are home alone, getting freaked out by even a gust of air.

There is a dreadful treasure here for every reader: haunted houses, rise of the Devil, paranormal sightings, Voodoo, and much more. The author has put together promising stories for every alphabet that are guaranteed to scare you out of your wits and question the presence of the supernatural.

Pick up the book as the night crawls by for feeling those chills creeping up your skin and your heart beating out of your chest.

Introduction:

It has been a long time since I read horror stories. When I saw the cover page of this book and the title I was sure to read this book. Luckily the author provided me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest book review. Thank you so much Anmol, I was dying to read this book. So let’s check out what this book offers.

Summary:

This book consists 26 short stories. All the stories are creepy, quirky and sinister.

The first story ‘Atheist’ is the story of two friends; one is the watchman of a graveyard. Their conversation went to the existence of devil and god. What happens next is bone chilling scary. The next story ‘Bloody Mary’ is related to the urban legend of bloody Mary, where Susan is forced to lock in the bathroom and summon bloody Mary. ‘Circle of life’ is a story of couple Hannah and Amy whose car collides with an old woman on the deserted road, what happens next literally changes their life.

‘Devil Walks Among Us’ is a story where a little boy and woman injured in the accident. They were taken to the hospital. The hospital itself is creepy and the twist at the end is simply scary. ‘Enter with Caution’ is a story where a couple and their little daughter went to an amusement park which is totally quirky. ‘Frozen’ is the story a group of the documentary maker who went high to the Pit fall in search of breaking the myth but what happens with them is unbelievable.

‘Ghost on Tape’ is a story of paranormal researchers who go in the eventful house and they have to face the unexpected things. ‘Hellbound’ tells a story of a couple who asks people to get a lost key from their haunted house for the hefty prize money. But what truly happens after people go in is really scary. ‘In Lieu of’ is the story of a couple whose life is devastated due to the loss of a child and they move to the new house, the ever upset wife becomes cheerful but the reason behind is totally scary.

‘Justified’, ‘Let me in’, ‘Nightmare’, ‘Reincarnation’, ‘Sinister’, ‘Unworthy’ are the stories of demon and these are literally scary. ‘Killer Doll’ is the story of toy ghost but with the unexpected twist. ‘Mine’ is a short psychological thriller story of a boy who loves to wound himself. ‘Ordinance’ is the story of a girl who is kidnapped and then sacrificed by the cult people. ‘Planchette’ is the story of a group who try to play with Ouija board. ‘Quiet’ is a quirky story of mysterious neighbor.

‘The Last Lullaby’ is a creepy story with twists and turns. ‘Voodoo’ is a story of ghost researchers whose end is not so good. ‘Witch’ is a story of two boys who try to find the truth behind a mysterious girl but what follows them is unexpected. ‘X-Mas’ is a story where a 10-year-old boy has a bad memory for Christmas. ‘Yours forever’ is a totally quirky love story. ‘Zapped in’ is the story of girls who go to the catacomb filming but their fate is pitiful which bounds them in catacomb forever.

I liked each story as they are truly new and you must not have read such stories before.

Writing style:

The author has used very easy language making it easy for every type of reader. The narration is also amazing keeping you hooked till the end.

My perception:

I really enjoyed this book. The author has framed the stories in a very simple manner but they are totally impressive. Writing a different story with different context is really tricky but I must say that the author has succeeded in it. Each story is creepy making you to show the realm of paranormal. The author extensively used various supernatural concepts which I like the most. I myself write horror stories and this book literally impressed me. I want more Indian authors to come with horror stories. Finally, these stories are totally amusing and really entertaining to read!

First of all, I would like to thanks @writersmelon and @harpercollinsin for the copy. 😊The first thing which attracts me towards this book is the alluring book cover. The contrasting use of black and white colors with two human figures on the bicycle made me read this book.
I have never read any dystopian novel before thus the concept of this book was totally new to me. This book starts on a very interesting note which makes you flip the pages. .

You must have read various stories revolving around the Kashmir issue. This book also depicts the same essence but with a different twist. There is no doubt that leaving our home in few hours is the most painful experience in the world. This becomes more septic when one has to suffer without committing any mistake. The title of this book is catchy and gives a ray of hope. I would like to thank the #fingerprintpublishing for giving me a chance to read this beautiful book. 💜

Love is a feeling which cannot be expressed in the words. From many years, poets and writers are penning about this. Over the time, the definition of love changed. If we see the present situation then there are very few people who love each other unconditionally.  Living in the modern era when the other things take importance, do we have time to explore and understand love? The author of this book tried to give us some influential love sutra through the various stories. Thank you so much dear author for giving me a chance to read and review your debut work. 😊

First of all, I would like to thank the publisher for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The first thing which attracts the readers is the enchanting book cover, adorned with magenta colour and the palm of Buddha. This book cover can attract even a non-reader. After reading the blurb and genre, I was quite skeptical about this book but to my surprise, it turned out to be one of best non-fiction books of this year. .
