…Suddenly, he saw something shiny at the bottom of the abyss. He squinted to see what it was. He ran back to his binoculars and turned them to see what it was. Sharp barbed wires that separated the two mountains came into focus. He had come as far as he could in his country. But she was standing in another country.

He was in South India and she was in North India…

Have you ever imagined India being divided into two countries? What happens to the millions of Indians who are from South India but are now residing in North India? Kaahi & Jai were two such people who got trapped in this situation. Everything was going smoothly for them and suddenly, their world turned upside down.

How will they get together? Will India become one again?

Take an exciting journey with them from their college days in Mumbai to their life in the US and back to India when they find out that India is divided.

Introduction:

I have received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review so at first I would like thanks him. India is often termed as a country having ‘unity in diversity’. This is the only country which has multiple religions and languages. Each region has its own significance.  Where all these makes India, a multicultural country. However many a time this becomes the main reason of riots and disturbance. The author has weaved the story around this issue. Let’s dwell more into this book.

Plot summary:

The book starts with Jai and Kaahi. Both are standing in different India a north India and a south India. They are trying to convey their love and profusely yearning for each other.

Then the story moves to the past where Kaahi aka Kahani meets Jai in the college canteen. Jai’s friends are from all over India. They all have a very good bonding. Soon Kaahi and Jai and starts loving each other and after the graduation, they got married.

Jai’s father told him to settle in the US for some time as they have a company over there. Jai and Kaahi move to US and thing were swift and perfect. They visited many places and get to know many cultures.  Jai meets various Indian citizens and understood India more.

Everything was like a fairy tale until the news comes that the India has been separated into two countries. North India and South India. Kaahi and Jai get terrified as both of their parents belong to different newly formed India. Panicked, they fly back to different India to meet their parents.

Then something happens, which makes Kaahi and Jai apart from each other. The only enemy is now the border.

Will India ever become one? Will Kaahi and Jai able to meet each other? If yes then How? Read this book to know further.

Writing style:

The language is easy and narration is smooth making you read this book in a pace.

My perception:

The concept of this book is very good. However, I think the story could have been stronger. Almost 70% of the book talks about Kaahi, Jai and their places to visit whereas the main part of this book is wind up abruptly.  I didn’t feel any connection with any of the characters, which I always look in a book. I wish the author would have given more account of the separated India because that part is really heart throbbing and hooked me till the end.

Witnessing the current turmoil in the country, India need to be one otherwise the day is not far when such thing can occur in reality. The author has tried to give a very neat message through this book.

First of all, I would like to thanks @writersmelon and @harpercollinsin for the copy. 😊The first thing which attracts me towards this book is the alluring book cover. The contrasting use of black and white colors with two human figures on the bicycle made me read this book.
I have never read any dystopian novel before thus the concept of this book was totally new to me. This book starts on a very interesting note which makes you flip the pages. .

You must have read various stories revolving around the Kashmir issue. This book also depicts the same essence but with a different twist. There is no doubt that leaving our home in few hours is the most painful experience in the world. This becomes more septic when one has to suffer without committing any mistake. The title of this book is catchy and gives a ray of hope. I would like to thank the #fingerprintpublishing for giving me a chance to read this beautiful book. 💜

Love is a feeling which cannot be expressed in the words. From many years, poets and writers are penning about this. Over the time, the definition of love changed. If we see the present situation then there are very few people who love each other unconditionally.  Living in the modern era when the other things take importance, do we have time to explore and understand love? The author of this book tried to give us some influential love sutra through the various stories. Thank you so much dear author for giving me a chance to read and review your debut work. 😊

First of all, I would like to thank the publisher for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The first thing which attracts the readers is the enchanting book cover, adorned with magenta colour and the palm of Buddha. This book cover can attract even a non-reader. After reading the blurb and genre, I was quite skeptical about this book but to my surprise, it turned out to be one of best non-fiction books of this year. .
