This delectable tale revolves around 29 year old Pierre Jackson, who dreams about becoming a renowned pâtissier and chef. He moves from Detroit to Toronto with his handsome fiancé, DeAndre Harris, who has just landed a prestigious job at a major news station in the city. Everything seems to be perfect...until a secret comes to light and things between Pierre and DeAndre go south. With everything falling apart, Jahan Khakwani, a gorgeous Indo-Canadian man, moves into Pierre's apartment and Pierre likes what he sees.

Jahan Khakwani is battling the odds in his life. He's constantly in between jobs and running into trouble with the law. His mother, a powerful attorney and Toronto socialite, is tired of rescuing her son and just wants him to take some responsibility. She orchestrates an arranged marriage for Jahan, thinking it will cure him of his reckless habits and put him back on the straight and narrow. In a last ditch effort to change his life around, Jahan immerses himself into Eastern spirituality. As he goes through his spiritual journey, it forces him to confront the dark secrets in his family's past.

As Pierre teaches Jahan about the beauty of food with their intimate cooking sessions, Jahan shows Pierre the beauty of Buddhism. What will become of the two?

Introduction:

Firstly, here’s a thanks to the author for giving me an opportunity to read and review this book. This one is one of the most unique books I have read in a long time and the first homosexual book that I have ever read. Also, considering the issue of homosexuals has been largely crushed in India and that it is high time they are given an opportunity to express themselves, this book is a real gem. So here’s what lies inside the book!

Plot summary:

The story centres around Pierre, a homosexual, who is dealing with heartbreak after his bisexual boyfriend cheats on him. Stuck in a boring job, Pierre doesn’t find anything exciting to do with his life unless he meets Vijay, fondly known as Jay. Vijay and Pierre are next-door neighbours and soon become good friends. Vijay often calls Pierre over to his apartment to cook for him since Pierre is an incredible cook.

Pierre, however, is attracted to Vijay from the very first day. Vijay, an Indian, on the other hand, is confused about his sexuality. Although he strongly advocates that he is straight, he gradually develops feelings for Pierre and longs to be with him all the time.

The story takes a twist with the entry of De’Andre, Pierre’s fiance who cheated on him. He apologises to Pierre with all his heart and tries coming back into his life. Things become more complicated when Vijay’s mother learns about Pierre’s sexuality and the nature of his relationship with her son. What happens to Pierre and Vijay’s weird relationship in the end? Well, for that, you must read the book!

Writing Style:

The style of writing of the author is entertaining and crisp. It is simple and hence easy to understand. He tries to portray Pierre and Vijay’s relationship in great detail, thus making it look real. You can read the book with pace.

My Perception:

I must say it is a great genre to choose considering the fate of homosexual relationships across the world, especially in India. It is a bold subject and perfectly portrays the feelings of homosexuals. The story in itself is entertaining. All in all, a good read!

Until next time, Keep reading 🙂

Here is the blurb of the book :

Sonal Kapoor is a reserved, hardworking entrepreneur running a florist boutique in London. She fights a paradoxical battle between her responsibilities at work and her only family there - her mother. And caught in between these is a story of Sonal's past - a terrible event that got her to flee India. Scars from her troubled past continues to manifest in multitude of ways, reminding her constantly about that horrific event.
Serendipity happens when Dr. Ryan Percy enters her life and Sonal is challenged in ways she had never imagined. Ryan turns out as everything from Sonal's quintessential definition of the man of her dreams - BUT, Ryan too comes to the party with his own baggage from the past. A pivotal piece in the jigsaw of their lives appears to be missing. Could their puzzling lives be ever completed by each other? Do they complete or destroy each other? .

  • #reading a book is a fun, it simply opens up a new realm where you find peace, sorrow, and happiness. But there comes a certain time in life when the readers don’t just want to read, they can’t simply proceed from 10 pages. So if this thing is happening with you then you are definitely suffering from #readersblock This is similar to the #writersblock but where writer’s block is an acceptable aspect, reader’s block is not.

Reader’s block can happen when you read some really pathetic book (Yes! It happens with me 😐) or are mentally distracted. However, there are many reasons but these two are the primary reasons.

If you are also suffering from reader’s block then do not worry you are not alone! I have shared some easy tips to revive your #readinghabit 📚The link is the bio 📚

This book is not simply the retelling but a treasure of lessons. The author has accumulated various stories which are scattered across the country and given a meaningful essence to the readers
