‘Ignore the Heart and Listen to Your Mind’ is the popular belief. Easier said than done!
Man is a social and emotional creature. Be it the professional or the personal sphere, emotions are the driving force behind all our thinking, behaviour and actions.
The problem is that we are the product of a dysfunctional society that teaches us to be ashamed and afraid of our feelings and trains us to suppress not express.
Emotions that are not felt and dealt with, use a lot of our vital energy and create a sea of unhappiness in our lives. The more we ignore and run away from them, the bigger they get and take us further away from happiness. In fact, our happiness quotient depends on how well we understand our emotions and how effectively we deal with them. Not being afraid of our feelings and taking responsibility for them is the first step towards happiness. The body and the psyche are major concerns while dealing with the situation. The clearer we are about why we are feeling the way we are feeling, the happier and healthier we will be—both physically and mentally.
This book will help Feel, Deal and Heal your mind, your heart and your feelings and show you how to learn to be happy!!

About the Author
Daughter of a newspaper publisher, life comes full circle for author Nirmal Yadav as her book goes into print.
Born in a small town of Haryana, Nirmal married a soldier at the age of twenty-one and signed up for three decades of a nomadic life—living, learning and unlearning, all around the country, eventually with two kids in tow. While her husband led a regiment, she chose to lead a classroom and spent many years teaching.
Finding herself in the predicament of no longer anchoring her family’s life, her children having grown up and gone, she took a courageous leap towards a new career. She trained as a psychotherapist and rediscovered herself while helping others in turmoil.
Nirmal has spent a good part of her life working at various social service organizations.

In the past, I have read several self-help books and each one has helped me a lot. This book was sent by the publisher for review purpose so at first, I would like to thanks them. 🙂 The colorful book cover, title, and blurb are enough to give you an idea that this book is going to be an interesting read. So let’s check what this book offers!

‘We aren’t born naturally unhappy, we learn to be unhappy, if we can learn to be unhappy, we can learn to be happy too.’ I simply loved this optimistic line.

This book starts with a prologue, where the author has written about her life and how after a certain period of time she stopped looking at the people and decided to bring changes in herself. This book is an honest representation of her life experiences and how we can also learn and improve our lives from this.

Divided into three parts, this book talks about each and every element which one needs to sort out in order to live a happy life. This section focuses on basic emotions of life like happiness, negative thinking, ego, the noisy mind, living in the past, suppressed pain, anger, and worry. Don’t you think each one of us has gone through these emotions? How did we tackle with them? Did we literally suppressed them or let them flow? This chapter practically answers your questions and helps you to deal properly with your emotions.

The second chapter talks about the further element responsible for our emotions and that is the awareness in life, making a conscious choice and taking responsibility for your life. This section literally identified the importance of awareness, choice, and responsibility in life and how you can embark on the right path by a just little alternation in your thought process.

The last and third section dedicates to all the couples and parents. In this, the author has talked about the miseries of matrimony, parenting, self-esteem & children, troublesome teens and in the autumn of your life.  In today’s world marriages are breaking, children are getting spoilt and we are stressing out for our old age. This chapter wisely describes the tips and tricks through which we can tackle all these problems.

The author has written all these things with interesting snippets from her life.

Writing style:

The author has managed to write this book without any hard words thus keeping it simple for all kind of readers. Though it is a non-fiction book it doesn’t make you bore.

My perception:

I am so glad that I read this book. This book is beautifully written and I am really thankful that I got a chance to read this book. This book is not among those where the self-help tips will be blabbered all over you but this is the book which will talk with you like an experienced friend. The tips given by the author are so practical and impressive that you really want to follow those tips in your life. This book will in a true sense feel, deal and heal your problems. From the career orientation to marriage life to old age, this book gives an insight of each and everything. Do not miss this book, you will start looking your life in a different way after reading this book.

We often make decision in our life without thinking its pros and cons. From these some of the decisions are spontaneous and some are made by our nature and ego. We hardly ever get a chance to reform it, but even if we get a chance then how we amend our mistakes /decisions is something worth to think. This book revolves around the same scenario.

There are some books which are marked as a classic and must read, you often wonder what makes this book a classic. And you find the answer only when you read the book. This book is one of such books. Though this book was on my kindle since 5 months, I didn’t read it thinking that the language would be hard. One day one of my bookstagrammer friends, Mudrika @heer_13 wrote an impressive review of this book and then I decided to give it a read. .
